More often than not, we find ourselves wrapped up with life’s activities, school, work, and other engagements in-between such as house chores and errands, finding ourselves with very little time to rest, reflect and most importantly, exercise. Exercise should be an important part of our regular routines. Why? Essentially for our general health, it isn’t only mandatory for fitness purposes or to attain a good physique but it is fundamental to help keep alert, blood circulation, and to regulate blood pressure; for muscle flexibility immunity, good healthy skin and respiratory circulation whether we have problems in these areas or not.
Here are some of our suggestions on how to keep fit and healthy without having to spend a lot of time or money.
i) Free Smartphone Application-With the world steadily going digital, everything has literally been made so much easier, in our fingertips, so to speak. Almost everyone owns a smartphone; this enables us to get any information as long as we are connected to the internet. Both Playstore and Applestore have a lot of free applications one can download and store for exercising at home. These can be viewed on both android and istore platforms.
ii) Domestic Activities: - depending on the size of our families and cultures, girls are usually subjected to chores within the household even if a house-help or an errand boy has been employed. Girls are encouraged to help out which unprecedentedly gives them an advantage as it could be a way to exercise; for example, mopping the floor daily, is good for the abdominal and lower back, sweeping as well and other chores (we can find out more about this on the internet).
iii) Taking the Stairs & Walking-Instead of taking the escalator or elevators on a regular basis, we should opt for the more manual options; this helps in cardio exercise without actually feeling like we have to put on a pair of trainers and hit the road or the treadmill. Also making it a habit to walk when given the chance instead of constantly depending on a car, bus, motorcycle or tuk-tuk.
iv) Skipping Rope- this is a very convenient but effective method of exercise: a skipping rope doesn’t cost much and it is easy to carry around in case we travel or visit relatives. Skipping a rope consistently burns a lot of calories and is easy as well as fun.
v) Stretching After Waking Up and Before Going To Bed- Stretching is a good way to prepare our body’s muscles for the day’s activities, whether we will be formally exercising or not. It’s an easy habit to adapt and can motivate us to indulge in body building activities with a fun approach.
