Skin On Fleek Nothing says glam more than a healthy
glowing skin. The first step to achieving flawless and radiant skin is to
know your skin type. There are five basic skin types for girls: Normal, Dry,
Oily, Combination and Sensitive.The most effective habits for a clear skin
regardless of your skin type are:
i) Hydrating: drinking a lot of water daily with a minimum
of 6 glasses a day is a very important and good habit to adopt because
it has so many benefits such as keeping your skin cells hydrated, giving you a
more youthful and vibrant skin glow it constantly clears the skin. Often, a
bad skin is caused by toxic concentration and the best way to dilute all
toxins daily is to drink as much water as possible.
ii) Skin Contact: avoid touching your face with your hands;
always make sure you have a clean handkerchief or tissue to touch
your face with and not your hands because our hands
carry about 80 % of germs and bacteria that the body comes into contact with. Another good habit is to always ensure you
change your linen especially your pillowcases at least once or
twice a week; a dirty pillow can expose your skin to
bacteria and bed bugs that cause rash, acne and other horrible skin reactions- always tone your face after washing it
iii) Toning: Toning is an essential skin regiment that
should be done daily. You can use clean cotton wool or you can make your
own toner at home using apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon or lime juice, cucumber
flesh, Aloe Vera residue and ice-cold water.
iv)Sleep: Every girl needs their beauty sleep to
improve the quality and appearance of your skin. It is essential that
you get enough rest at least 8 to12hours of sleep a
day. Fatigue can easily reflect on your skin, by dark circles under your eyes, premature wrinkles and dull skin. Enough rest
gives you a youthful, bouncy, vibrant skin.
v) Sun Protection: the sun has very harmful rays that can
damage skin cells permanently. Even
though the melanin in our skin serves as our natural sunscreen, it is important
that we, the dark-skinned girls ensure our skin isn’t directly exposed to sunlight for a long time. We can do this by
carrying an umbrella when walking long distances under the
sun, wearing a sun hat or finding an affordable sun screen with a
suitable SPF that we should use on top of our body lotion.
Another tip would be to keep our skins moisturized or find a lotion or cream that suits your skin type.
Baths/Showers: other than for
hygiene purposes, regular thorough showers or baths are
important for skin care; dust and dirt tend to block our skin pores and the best way to avoid this is by washing up at least
twice a day. That not only leaves you feeling fresh and
replenished but it also opens your pores and lets
your skin breath and look better.
